Hard core Holiday is
the traditional end of the year blow out for CCW with a Xmas
Tree Match ending it all. This year had a great three team
tag match with no one escaping without some type of injury
or ringing in their heads.
-Our opening match had the Patriot and the Russian Mikhail
Koloff starting things off. Koloff did the smart thing and
sneak attacked The Patriot to get the action going. Most Russian
character wrestlers have some sort of definitive finishing
move to put away their opponents. Koloff still needs some
work as his lower abdomen is getting bigger and bigger on
each show and it is slowing him down. He was able to stand
toe to toe with The Patriot for several minutes before Koloff
tried a clothesline which backfired on him. I did notice that
Koloff has some potential if he finds a finishing move which
could be named after something he said during the match. "Yankee
go Home!" was what Koloff mouthed to The Patriot and
if that catch phrase was coupled with a powerful move , like
the Russian Sickle of Nikita Koloff, we could have a winning
maneuver. The Patriot got the pin and we are now underway
with the card.
-Several managers came to the ring next including Seth Gregg,
SnakeMaster, Dr. Red and Rico. Rico has been a welcome addition
to CCW as he is good on the mike which is a talent not everyone
has. Isis was introduced and we had a potential bidding war
as to who would be managing her in CCW. Isis was in better
shape then ever and seemed much slimmer then her last appearance.
After some banter by the managers as to why she should choose
them, Isis brought out the female contingent from CCW and
made her announcement. Isis basically told the men to take
a hike that she would be hanging with the girls as none of
them could handle her. I liked this approach with Isis but
would have been happier if Isis did something like say, pick
up Dr. Red and throw him over the top rope to the cold concrete
floor for laughs.
-Next up was a 6 man tag with Alex G, Anthony Michaels and
Alex Chamberlain against Shane McLane, Matt Bateman and Ram
Man who all came out with Kellie. Alex G must have received
a bailout as he had on some new ring clothes and looked much
better then at the student show. Alex Chamberlain must have
purchased his ring trunks from South Beach as they were very
tight and he had to constantly adjust them. Alex's main job
it seemed during this match was to get the stuffing beat out
of him. He did a real good job in that role. The poor guy
was bounced from corner to corner. Alex did have some pretty
good moves and he is getting better and better with each match.
Matt Bateman also had a main job of getting the tar beat out
of him . I thought that this match had a lot of good moves
and the ring psychology was working very well. Alex G. was
not able to stop the Ram Man and had to resort to dirty tactics
to get an advantage over him. Shane McLane tagged in to do
some quick ring work and even Anthony Michaels has his wrestling
boots on this night.
The match went on for a few minutes with Bateman getting his
butt kicked over and over until he made the hot tag to Ram
Man who was now hell bent on crushing Alex G. With all of
this action going on, Alex G had Ram Man where he wanted him
when everything fell apart for the good guys. Kelly jumped
to the top rope and was prepared to hit Alex G when Shane
McLane entered the ring with all of this confusion leading
to of all people, Anthony Michaels pinning Ram Man!
That was a shocker, but what happened next was even more shocking.
Ram Man must have had something whispered to him by Alex G
because the next thing we see is Ram Man giving a big splash
to Shane and tossing him and Bateman out of the ring. The
Ram Man went up to Alex G and shook his hand, signaling that
the old tag team of Cash Money is back in business.
-A ladies match was up next with Sybil Pageant defending her
title against Jessika Haze. I have seen these two go at it
for years with different quality of matches between them.
Over the years, Sybil has gotten heavier around the waist
while Jessika has slimmed down. This has slowed down Sybil
to where she no longer seems to do the high flying moves I
used to see her do. The problem with this match was the lack
of sound. Neither participant was able to garner any type
of impact noise or sounds when they hit each other. Pro Wrestling
works on using many stimuli and sound is an important component
of the show. Still, both girls put a lot into this and the
end came with each doing reverse roll ups and Jessika catching
Sybil by her outfit to pin her. The moral of the story for
Sybil is that she has to lose a few pounds and get rid of
that Goth girdle so she does not get rolled up again for a
pin.
-Kaotic Romeo has been making a name for himself with his
tag team by putting together quite a few wins. This match
was somewhat of a deep contrast in size between Romeo and
The Warlord. Warlord came to the ring with Kimberly while
Romeo had his regular partner TKO with him. Romeo had the
brains to know that he could not out muscle Warlord and relied
on complaining to the ref about hair and tight pulling which
is funny coming from a rule breaker and self proclaimed Miami
bad guy. I have no idea how much longer The Warlord was going
to put up with this, but Romeo decided to run the ropes with
him and quickly ran to TKO for help.
TKO decided to chase Kimberly around the ring, hoping to distract
Warlord so Romeo could pin him. This plan did not go over
too well as Kimberly is not a woman to fool with. She gave
TKO a slap that almost took his eye patch off. As TKO was
in the ring, Kimberly did a great hurricanrana on him and
tossed him out of the ring while The Warlord pinned Kaotic
Romeo with ease. After the match we had some friction as Romeo
and TKO were slapping each other silly as to who was to blame
for this defeat.
-It was now time for a fatal 3 way match between Tommy Vandal,
Scott Passion and JT Flash. Passion was introduced as "Cowboy"
Scott Passion which was funny as this was a cowboy with nothing
even remotely connected to being a cowboy in his ring attire.
Not even a Cowboy hat or a mark on his trunks. Passion's main
job was to be bounced around the ring by Tommy and JT like
a beach ball at a concert. Passion took one of the highest
back drops we have ever seen in Coral Springs. For most of
the match JT and Tommy viewed Passion as an afterthought as
they went at with a lot of vigor. Passion was also a great
prop as his white chest was the recipient of many chops which
brought a loud "Whoo" from the crowd.
The end came as Tommy Vandal showed JT what experience can
do for you. JT gave his finishing neck drop move to Passion
and was prepared to pin him. Tommy then drop kicked JT and
rolled him up for the pin. Pretty good match with all three.
-A team we ave not seen in a long time, The Heavenly Bodies
were up next against Pablo Marquez and Chasyn Rance. Chasyn
has not been seen for a while as I believe he was recuperating
from an ankle injury suffered months ago. In his return I
see that Chasyn has ditched his wide legged pants which he
used to wear. Maybe this allowed him to be more mobile as
he did not look at all like someone who had a serious ankle
injury. The Bodies were one of the few teams to start the
match off by talking trash to the crowd. This really helped
in making them look like a serious tag team as Pablo and Rance
are long time veterans of CCW and have earned the respect
of the fans. The Bodies were able to keep Pablo at bay for
a long time as he was not able to pull of some of the great
flying moves he is known for.
Pablo was in fact being beaten silly by the Bodies who tagged
in and out to keep fresh while Pablo was getting more tired
and beaten down. In a real shocker, Pablo was able to make
the hot tag to Rance, but was kicked out of the ring to the
floor. The Bodies did a quick super kick to Chasyn and won
the match in an upset.
-Our main attraction was up next, a hard core match with wrapped
weapons and three teams! This was also the return of The Syrian
Slasher who even though he is a bad guy, did acknowledge the
fans who welcomed him back. After the intros with Xmas music
and a stare down, we were under way!
Phi Delta Slam, The Syrian Slasher and American Taliban were
in the same ring with Dok Rivers and Kahagas. Kahagas was
in for Dustin Rhodes who was not able to be there due to a
WWE commitment. In addition to the wrestlers, we also had
Seth Gregg, Snakemaster and Rico at ring side which meant
that there were now 9 total participants, each one with anger
issues.
PDS wasted no time and went straight to the tree for the Xmas
presents and in just a few minutes we had the sound of heads
being wacked with metal, flying trash cans and canes flying.
It took mere minutes to have just about everyone cut , battered
and bleeding from all of this debris. Only Rico escaped without
a scratch as he seemed to be able to keep Snakemaster and
Seth Gregg going at it. Seth Gregg ended up looking like a
bleeding Cousin It form the Adams Family TV show as his hair
was covering his face completely. In one of the funnier moments,
a dazed and confused Seth Gregg stumbled to the Xmas Tree
are and found a wrapped frying pan. Seth took the pan and
went straight to the Snakemaster who himself was dazed and
confused. In a split second the sound of frontal lobes meeting
Teflon was heard as the pan bounced off of Snakemaster. Kahagas
threw the tree into the ring and everything from bats, to
plates, to a pizza cutter was in play. The crowd was on their
feet the whole time and it was impossible to see everything
that was going on. Snakemaster just about made Dr. Red evacuate
his rectum when he chased him to cane him. Dr. Red raised
a chair and had a look on his face of "OMG, no one told
me about this happening!"
After several minutes of endless action, a table was brought
in and we had visions of Big Till replicating last years feat
of jumping off a ladder onto someone for the win. Big Till
was on the ladder with The Syrian Slasher, prone on the table
awaiting his destiny. Big Till was ejected from the ladder
and went flying through the table and nearly broke his leg
. Bruno was able to get some of his wind back by checking
on Big Till as the others were beating themselves senseless.
This paid off for Bruno as he got the pin and PDS was now
the new CCW champs. There was so much going on that I really
can not recall who was pinned that evening!
The Snakemaster must have been very upset by his team losing
the belts as he caned the ref and a CCW security guy as he
was leaving the ring area. Dr. Red was busy verbally fighting
with the underage fans at the ring barricades.
This was one hell of a match and we really can only see this
happening once a year as it must take a few weeks for everyone
to recover. This was among the best matches of the year for
CCW and gave the crowd a real high standard for indy wrestling
in Florida. Over all, this was a great card and I only wished
that there were more fans there to see and enjoy the show.
No one wasted their talents and everyone pulled out their
best.
I hope everyone recovers from the beatings they took and we
see more great cards in Coral Springs next year.
In the meantime, please try to see the student matches at
Body Slam University as the more crowd exposure the wrestlers
get, the better they become and learn this crazy craft we
call Professional Wrestling.
